I don't know about you but sometimes my job and my life in general can become a bit stressful. I am not complaining in the least because I realize how good I really have it. I have a great life in fact and sometimes I see those less fortunate than I and it makes me appreciate what I have even more. I feel truly blessed by our good Lord and thank him everyday. However, like every outdoorsman who can hear "the call of the wild", I must return to the outdoors and recharge my battery when the stresses of life get a little high. It seems that no matter what is happening around me, the outdoors can repair and complete me. It can be the call of the loon, the howl of the wolf, the banter of chicadees or the song of the white-throated sparrow. It may be the wind whistling through the spruce and pines or the view of snow on mountain peaks. It's all good. For me it's the recharge that I need.
Yesterday, My family and I met up with friends at a remote lake here in B.C. We saw two black bears, at least 200 deer( not a type-o) bald eagle a moose and we fished and my two girls aged 7 and 10 caught some lake trout. The air was crisp and so clean and the smell of conifer was so strong. Does it get any better? not to me. I love being able to appreciate the outdoors and I feel so sorry for those that cannot or will not feel the way we can, just being "out there". Long live the outdoorsman/outdoorswoman.
