Recently one of our younger members were scolded terribly because of the hunting pics he posted. I also commented, and in hind-sight I must say that I think some of the comments, even including my own, might have been way too harsh.

Especially those of us who are seasoned hunters, or professional hunters, having had training in taking good hunting pics, should take a leading role and point our youngsters in the right direction. I think that most of the young ones on HN would love to learn from others (with the exception of a very small minority). We should take that lead and be careful not to make harsh statements. In future, let us use the private message system to get them to change their way of thinking, or give them advice on matters we think they need "schooling" in.

Scott Allen (haystack) just recently posted a blog and told us about his childhood, and taking advice from elders, and now being in the position to offer some advice to youngsters. I loved Scott's piece, and I think it is wonderful advice. Let us follow the route of offering our advice when we think it is needed, but let us do it in a manner that will not be degrading or questioning someone's integrity.

My apologies Rory. I'm sure I could have handled it better from the start. Happy hunting mate.

What an awesome game played by the Bulls! It was both clinical, exhilirating and entertaining. 61-17! The biggest score ever in a Super final and biggest winning margin ever.

They made me so proud to be a Blue Bull supporter!

BULLS! BULLS! BULLS! Super 14 CHAMPIONS 2009!

Today is D-day in the Super 14 rugby competition. Afrter 98 games in the round robin stages the Chiefs from NZ played their fellow countrymen the Hurricanes in the first semi-final playoff last weekend, beating them by 14-10. The Bulls from SA played the defending champions, the Crusaders from NZ in the other semi-final playoff at the Bulls home ground, Loftus. The Bulls ran out victors with 36-23.

Today at 17H30 GMT+2 the Bulls play the Chiefs in the final at Loftus Versveld, the Bulls home ground, in Pretoria, South Africa. 80 minutes of grueling rugby to come.

Needless to say - I am a huge Bulls fan, and I'm hoping that my team will lift the trophy at around 19H30GMT+2 as the new champions!

GO BULLS!

On CNN today the story broke regarding British MP's who has lodged bogus claims. One claimed 16,000 pound sterling for a mortage that does not exists. Other MP's claimed for all sorts of other BS, and they are now offering to pay back these monies to "restore confidence".  The value of the bogus claims uncovered so far totals more than 107,000 pound sterling! What a laugh! One can never again trust someone who has stolen from you, especially if he/she is a politician. Brittain has some of the strictest firearm legislation in the world. This is probably to ensure that the constituents do not shoot the corrupt politicians

This one is for our American friends, but the others can join in if the want.

Where does the word "America" come from? Any guesses?

This is something hunters can help with to show we do not just kill, but also help with conservation. If you choose to make a donation, please make sure that you tell them you are a hunter, and that you read about this on Hunters Networks. These people are against hunting, and support from hunters might just go a long way changing their minds. Anyway, I do think that it is a worthwhile cause to support.

-----oo-----

Dear SanWild supporters and friends

Earlier this year we alerted you to our financial predicament in feeding and caring for the SanWild lions. Fortunately with your support and financial contributions we could raise sufficient funding to prevent the lions being euthanized.

In our previous appeal we shared the heart breaking news with you that should we fail to raise sufficient funding SanWild would have no other option than to put the lions to sleep.  This was a heart breaking decision we had to consider, but unfortunately a hard reality bearing in mind the international financial crisis and the dwindling donor funding available to animals.  Sadly it seems that in case of financial hardship it is always the animals that mostly have to bear the brunt of lack of financial support.

Fortunately we had your support and your contributions, large and small, helped us raise sufficient funding to continue to care for Jespha's, Lutalo's and the Royal Pride Members.  All sixteen lions are doing great and have recently been moved to larger, more spacious enclosure that was constructed with fencing materials donated to SanWild after a local farmer had sold his property and has some 2nd hand fencing materials available.  Vasectomies have been done on the 2 young males in the Royal Pride and facial warts that was causing a lot of discomfort on one of Lutalo's lionesses was also removed.  This ensures that no breeding of lions will take place at SanWild as all the males have now had vasectomies.  They lead a normal life; lionesses still come into oestrus, but do not conceive during mating.  All is well and happy on the lion front.

However we have once again reached a point where the funding raised was sufficient to care for the lions until the end of April and we now urgently need to ask for your financial contributions once again to ensure the continued well being of the SanWild lion prides.

We would really appreciate your financial support and all donations would be welcomed.  If you are in a position to make a small (or large) contribution, pls do so without delay.  On-line donations can be made via our website at www.sanwild.com  Go to the SUPPORT page and find Sponsor / Donate, use the drop down box to find Feed the SanWild lions.

This time around we would like to reward you for your financial support - all donations will receive a free DVD of a program just produced at SanWild last week about our lions and their plight.  All donations will qualify for this free DVD.  Kindly pls notify us of your donation made on-line, via direct internet banking transfer or by direct deposit into our trust account at ABSA.

Our banking details are ABSA, Danie Joubert Street, Tzaneen, account number 9111221180, branch code 334349, IBAN CODE: ZA632005, Swift Code ABSAZAJJ (for international transfers).  Please email your postal address for delivery to lizel@sanwild.org

May we also please ask that those of you who undertook to make a monthly contribution in support of the lion of your choice, pls just email us your postal details for delivery once you have made this month's transfer.

As always we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts to your continued support.  Without your help the amber eyes of our individual lions would die forever and their mighty roars would never ever be heard across the African plains again.  This would be a very sad day; and a day too horrible for us to contemplate.  Without your help and support we would not be in a financial position to continue to take care of them and ensure full tummies.  You are true animal heroes - no matter how large or small your donation.

Kind and warm regards from us all.

Louise

It being Easter, I thought I'd share this with everyone

Still He Walked
Author Unknown
Apr 7, 2009

"Still He Walked"

He could hear the crowds screaming "crucify" "crucify"...
He could hear the hatred in their voices,
These were his chosen people.
He loved them,
And they were going to crucify him.
He was beaten, bleeding and weakened...
His heart was broken,
But still He walked.

He could see the crowd as he came from the palace.
He knew each of the faces so well.
He had created them.
He knew every smile, every laugh, and every shed tear,
But now they were contorted with rage and anger
His heart broke,
But still He walked.

Was he scared? You and I would have been
So his humanness would have mandated that he was.
He felt alone.
His disciples had left, denied, and even betrayed him.
He searched the crowd for a loving face and he saw very few.
Then he turned his eyes to the only one that mattered
And he knew that he would never be alone.
He looked back at the crowd...
At the people who were spitting at him
Throwing rocks at him and mocking him
And he knew that because of him,
They would never be alone.
So for them, He walked.

The sounds of the hammer striking the spikes echoed through the crowd.
The sounds of his cries echoed even louder,
The cheers of the crowd, as his hands and feet were nailed to the cross,
Intensified with each blow.
Loudest of all was the still small voice
Inside his Heart that whispered "I am with you, my son",
And God's heart broke.
He had let His son walk.

Jesus could have asked God to end his suffering,
But instead He asked God to forgive.
Not to forgive him, but to forgive the ones who were persecuting him.
As he hung on that cross, dying an unimaginable death,
He looked out and saw, not only the faces in the crowd,
But also, the face of every person yet to be,
And his heart filled with love.
As his body was dying, his heart was alive.
Alive with the limitless, unconditional love he feels for each of us.
That is why He walked.

When I forget how much My God loves me,
...I remember his walk.
When I wonder if I can be forgiven,
...I remember his walk.
When I need to be reminded of how to live like Christ,
...I think of his walk.
And to show him how much I love him,
...I wake up each morning, turn my eyes to him,
.......And I walk.
