Thinking back, I remember lots of fishing trips as a youngster. My earliest memory is of my real-dad taking myself and my oldest brother fishing in Clendenin, WV. We fished off an old bridge (which is no longer there). I don't recall if I caught anything or not but I had so much fun that day. I was probably around 7-9 years old.
My most memorable trips were with my Grandpa. He would take my brother and I to Cranberry, WV. Oh the trout fishing there is GREAT! My brother was never interested in fishing so we would leave him at camp and Granpa and I would ride our bikes for miles up the trails. We would find a good spot, chain the bikes up, then walk and walk while we fished. Even though I never caught anything, watching my Grandpa nail 'em was soooo exciting! He is 86 now and failing, I so wish I could take him fishing one last time.
I have my oldest son into fishing so he is now my "fishing buddy". We go camping on the Holly River, WV. He loves it! I'm so glad I could pass this great pass time onto my son. We've had some really great times in a boat on the Elk River too! I hope he will teach his children how to fish...there is honestly nothing like it in the world!
